Flocking Mosque by Azra Akšamija is a signal of our trend Flexurbinity, which is all about that our cities are changing and thus our movements and actions.
Flocking Mosque is a wearable and mobile religious architectural object. It ensures that people no longer need a fixed place for religion. Normally people had to go to a mosque for prayer, but now they are liberated from a fixed location. The individual elements of this design can be detached, resulting in twelve separate sets of prayer rugs. In the centre of the flower-like circle is a compass that makes sure people can point in the direction of Mecca.
